Boulevard Of Broken Dreams

Nice lyrics.

By Green Day

I walk a lonely road

The only one that I have ever known

Don't know where it goes

But it's home to me and I walk alone

I walk this empty street

On the Boulevard of Broken Dreams

Where the city sleeps

and I'm the only one and I walk alone

I walk alone

I walk alone

I walk alone

I walk a...

My shadow's the only one that walks beside me

My shallow heart's the only thing that's beating

Sometimes I wish someone out there will find me

'Til then I walk alone

Ah-ah, Ah-ah, Ah-ah, Aaah-ah,

Ah-ah, Ah-ah, Ah-ah

I'm walking down the line

That divides me somewhere in my mind

On the border line

Of the edge and where I walk alone

Read between the lines

What's fucked up and everything's alright

Check my vital signs

To know I'm still alive and I walk alone

I walk alone

I walk alone

I walk alone

I walk a...

My shadow's the only one that walks beside me

My shallow heart's the only thing that's beating

Sometimes I wish someone out there will find me

'Til then I walk alone

Ah-ah, Ah-ah, Ah-ah, Aaah-ah

Ah-ah, Ah-ah

I walk alone

I walk a...

I walk this empty street

On the Boulevard of Broken Dreams

Where the city sleeps

And I'm the only one and I walk a...

My shadow's the only one that walks beside me

My shallow heart's the only thing that's beating

Sometimes I wish someone out there will find me

'Til then I walk alone...

A Hyderabadi Drug Addict

Since I went to a school for 8 years with a 99% population consisting of Hyderabadi's, I could safely say that some of the blood flowing in my veins has mutated into Hyderabadi blood. Although my ancestry is from North India and my background is in no way related to Hyderabad, but a very significant part of my personality is now Hyderabadi. I've never been to Hyderabad, But I have learned to adapt to their behavior. I can break into a fit and completely transform into a Hyderabadi like a damn Chameleon.

I have come to be known as a good Hyderabadi impersonator even by Hyderabadi's. Whenever I meet them they ask me do the latest impression I learned of hyderabadi's. Recently I've been growing weary of their wishes. I'm a person with feelings you know, there is more to me than just a shallow impersonation. I'm not a circus monkey damn it!

There is this one Hyderabadi I meet occasionally and he doesn't even know me well enough to make such a request. I've managed to avoid this awkward request three times now by cracking up this dumb expression on my face, but this guy doesn't get the message. Next time If he asks then I'll tell him about the new impression I learned of a "Hyderabadi Drug Addict". If for a lack of self-respect he insist that I do it for him then I'll caution him on that it is rated 'R' for some drug use, violence, and oh yes.... Nudity! :D

And if he still insist then I'll do it, but its not going to be a pretty sight!

~Hyderabadi: Somebody who was born or raised in, or has an ancestry from the Indian city of Hyderabad

Song: I Dare You To Move

This is currently the song that I've been listening.

By Switchfoot

Welcome to the planet

Welcome to existence

Everyone's here

Everyone's here

Everybody's watching you now

Everybody waits for you now

What happens next

What happens next

[Chorus]

I dare you to move

I dare you to move

I dare you to lift yourself up off the floor

I dare you to move

I dare you to move

Like today never happened

Today never happened before

Welcome to the fallout

Welcome to resistance

The tension is here

Tension is here

Between who you are and who you could be

Between how it is and how it should be

[Chorus]

Maybe redemption has stories to tell

Maybe forgiveness is right where you fell

Where can you run to escape from yourself?

Where you gonna go?

Where you gonna go?

Salvation is here

I dare you to move

I dare you to move

I dare you to lift yourself up off the floor

I dare you to move

I dare you to move

Like today never happened

Today never happened

Today never happened

Today never happened before

Hurricane "Ivan" the Invincible

Ivan's Projected Path

Ivan, declared a category-5 storm just hit Cuba a few hours ago. It has reportedly killed 68 people in the Caribbean and seems to threaten millions in the U.S. If Ivan goes along its projected path then the bay area will start to experience hard waves by Tuesday evening and strong winds by Wednesday morning. The eye of Ivan will hit Mobile on Wednesday Night and will take the whole Thursday to pass over it. According to Ivan's projected path, the storm should pass over us completely by Saturday.

Hurricane Ivan's Advisories

The authorities have declared an evacuation in near by counties. Few weeks ago, a category-3 hurricane "Frances" hit Florida and wreaked havoc. It ripped of power and telephone lines. All the roads were littered with debris and some were washed away. It took days for the power to be reinstated and in some areas power has not been reinstated up till now. Federal assistance was called in to assist in recovery efforts and to prevent civil unrest. If a category-3 can do that much damage than people now are dreading to imagine what a category-5 hurricane will do this time. The winds are expected go around to +115 MPH.

Ivan's Wind Radius

The university has opened its Humanities building as a storm shelter. I haven't decided weather to go to Texas or take refuge in the storm shelter until this storm passes. I'll probably decide by Tuesday afternoon. Anyway, Ivan is expected to do a lot of damage. If Ivan goes a little off course to the west even then we'll still be in its red zone. Anyway, those of you who will be concerned about me, don't expect me to call you right after the storm to see if I survived or not because there is a 110% chance that all the power and telephone lines would be out of service. I'll let you know how am I doing as soon as I find a way to call or e-mail. Alright, just pray nothing unforeseen bad happens.

Take that you Pro-Patriot Act cowards! Yes, that's right...I called y'all cowards.

Song: Fields of Athenry

This is the new version of a song written in Ireland in the late 1800s. The names have been changed for the song to fit the context of Michael Collins. Michael was a freedom fighter in Ireland's independence struggle against the British(Crown). I first heard of this song on one of "Veronica Guerine" OSTs. It was sung by a 10 year old Irish boy and sung it beautifully. I tried downloading it, but downloaded the Rock, Metal, Country, Folk versions of it by accident and they all stunk. For some reason, I like anything done against the British Crown, like for example "Braveheart". On the basis of a Google search, this song seems to be traditionally very well known in Ireland.

By a lonely prison wall

I heard a young girl calling

Michael they have taken you away

For you stole Trevelyan's corn

So the young might see the morn

Now a prison ship lies waiting in the bay

Low lie the fields of Athenry

Where once we watched the small free birds fly

Our love was on the wing

We had dreams and songs to sing

It's so lonely round the fields of Athenry

By a lonely prison wall

I heard a young man calling

Nothing matters Mary when you're free

Against the famine and the crown

I rebelled and they shot us down.

Now you must raise our child with dignity

By a lonely harbor wall

she watched the last star fall

As the prison ship sailed out against the sky

For she lived to hope and pray

For her love in Botany Bay

It's so lonely round the fields of Athenry

In Memory of 9/11

Such a Beautiful sight and yet tragic at the same time. Almost looks like CGI work from a movie scene.

Broadcasting Bridges TV

Bridges TV will start Broadcasting on November 30th, 2004 right after Eid-ul-Fitr.

Finally....A Channel of our own! I'm already getting ideas of shows to suggest or pitch to the Bridges people. If this channel works then I might try to make career on this channel.

Damn I've got so many good movie and TV show ideas locked up in my head just waiting to be let out. I think Bridges TV will also be broadcasted in the Middle East. Can anyone imagine what kind of impact this channel will have on the Muslim world? If I produced a show on this channel, it would be as if I'll be defining a modern 21st century Islamic culture for the whole Muslim world. Wowie, what an influence would that be?!

Half Life 2 Release Date Announced

It is confirmed that Half Life 2 will hit retail stores on September 30th, 2004. Now only if I can get the hardware to play this bad boy. Truly a masterpiece in 3D Gaming!

I'm Making A Switch

I made a separate hidden blog to post my personal thoughts, but I haven't posted anything on it yet because whatever time I get to write blogs I usually post it on this one or maybe I can't really draw a fine line between personal and interesting. But I don't get anytime time to take out and write my personal thoughts on a separate blog. So I have decided to delete my hidden private blog and write everything related to everything on just this blog. I'll probably figure out some way to put some kind of a picture or symbol to differentiate between different genre of posts like: personal thoughts, news and you get the idea.

Song: They

I saw this song's music video on VH1. It kind of sounds like an anti-establishment song. But its a cool song though.

by Jem

Who made up all the rules
We follow them like fools
Believe them to be true
Don’t care to think them through

And I’m sorry so sorry
I’m sorry it’s like this
I’m sorry so sorry
I’m sorry we do this

And it’s ironic too
Coz what we tend to do
Is act on what they say
And then it is that way

And I’m sorry so sorry
I’m sorry it’s like this
I’m sorry so sorry
I’m sorry we do this

Who are they
And where are they
And how can they possibly know all this
Who are they
And where are they
And how can they possibly know all this

Do you see what I see
Why do we live like this
Is it because it’s true
that ignorance is bliss

Who are they
And where are they
And how do they know all this
And I’m sorry so sorry
I’m sorry it’s like this

Do you see what I see
Why do we live like this
Is it because it’s true
that ignorance is bliss

And who are they
And where are they
And how can they know all this
And I’m sorry so sorry
I’m sorry we do this

Song: Somewhere Only We Know

I like this song and the lyrics too, I thought I post the lyrics on this blog.

by Keane

I walked across an empty land
I knew the pathway like the back of my hand
I felt the earth beneath my feet
Sat by the river and it made me complete
Oh simple thing where have you gone
I'm getting old and I need something to rely on
So tell me when you're gonna let me in
I'm getting tired and I need somewhere to begin

I came across a fallen tree
I felt the branches of it looking at me
Is this the place we used to love?
Is this the place that I've been dreaming of?

Oh simple thing where have you gone
I'm getting old and I need something to rely on
So tell me when you're gonna let me in
I'm getting tired and I need somewhere to begin

And if you have a minute why don't we go
Talk about it somewhere only we know?
This could be the end of everything
So why don't we go
Somewhere only we know?

Oh simple thing where have you gone
I'm getting old and I need something to rely on
So tell me when you're gonna let me in
I'm getting tired and I need somewhere to begin

And if you have a minute why don't we go
Talk about it some
where only we know?
This could be the end of everything
So why don't we go
Somewhere only we know?

This could be the end of everything
So why don't we go
Somewhere only we know?

School Started

School started and I am feeling so out of place. I've been out of school for over three months because of not taking the summer semester. I've been out of school for so long that I'm going to require a significant amount of time to adapt to my old environment(routine) all over again.

The Gathering Storm

There was a severe thunder storm circling over us for the past two days. There was so much rain and lightning followed by very loud thunder. Sometimes the lightning struck so close to my house that you couldn't even tell if there was a lag between the lightning and thunder. We get a lot of thunder storms here in the deepest south point of Alabama. It seems at least 40% of all the lightning during the storm touches the earth. I woke up twice in the middle of the night because of the loud thunder. Whenever lightning struck close to the house, it shook up all the windows. I never knew how loud thunder is until lightning strikes so close to your house. Once lightning touches the ground, it goes through some of the cables laid underground into peoples homes and burns their electrical appliances such as the TV, Computer or the Cable Modems. As a matter of fact it burned out my cable modem this time and that's why I could not post any blogs for the past few days. I called up Comcast and they sent a technician. He said the modems must be burnt out, installed a new one and that fixed the problem. I was in the kitchen when it happened. I saw the light from the sparks followed by the thunder and my brother who was sitting near the computer claims he saw the sparks come out from the modem. I was like Daaaaamn! This happens a lot to people around these parts. The lights kept going on and off the whole time during the storm. Down here in the south, thunder storms are always a concern.

The Best Part of "Road to Perdition"

Production shot from "Road to Perdition"

The only thing I liked from this over-hyped up god awful movie was this one line by Paul Newman.

"We are who we are and this is the life we chose, with only one guarantee...... That none of us will see heaven"
- Paul Newman in "Road to Perdition"

My Ultimate Test of Freedom

If I ever got naturalized as a US citizen, as an ultimate test of freedom. The first thing I would do is to buy an American flag, a bottle of highly combustible fluid, and a cigarette lighter. I would walk down to a crowded public place, soak the flag in the combustible fluid, and set it ablaze. And keep on shouting out like a madman "This is what I think of America!" while I franticly wave the burning flag. And wait to see if I get arrested for burning a sacred national symbol, that is only if the angry mob doesn't beat me to death first. The reason I would do this is not show that I hate America or anything like that, but to see if the law will uphold my right to free speech and expression (First Amendment).

Movie Review : The Village

Production shot from "The Village"

Rating: 3.5/5.0

Another great movie from acclaimed film maker M. Night Shyamalan. "The Village" takes place around the late 1800s about a small village in the woods. The towns people don't venture out of the village because they consider the woods the domain of the creatures that haunt the woods around their village. It is said that the villagers have an unspoken pact with the creatures in the woods that they won't venture in the woods and the creatures will let the villagers live in peace. The creatures in the woods start leaving of signs in the village indicating that the pact has been broken. Although this movie is not as good as "The Signs" or "The Sixth Sense" but it does have a few twists like Night's previous work and makes watching this movie worth the money.

The Downside to Democracy

One of the disadvantages of being a democratic society is that whatever the decisions taken by their elected leader, the responsibility befalls on all the members of society. Regardless if the consequences of those decisions turn out to be good or bad. Don't get me wrong, I love democracy as much as the next guy. But the real dilemma arises when homicidal rebel groups from countries like Saudi Arabia, target civilian populations of democratic nations like of the US for supporting oppressive regimes in their land.

If any wrong action taken by the US government results in a loss to the Saudi population, be it economic, political or social, then the rebels in Saudi Arabia are well within their rights to target civilians in the US. Since, the the US government was elected and represented by the people of the US therefore, every American should equally share the consequences of their government's actions. Moreover, the American people pay taxes to the state which, raises their degree of responsibility.

However, on the other hand its not the same as in the case of Saudi Arabia. In an undemocratic country like Saudi Arabia, where the government is not elected by the people. The state and the civilian population to a very significant extent of "responsibility sharing" are independent, even on those very rare occasions when the government does listen to the people. If the Saudi government did something wrong that resulted in a loss to the US or its people then only the Saudi government is responsible to compensate for America's loss and no blame or burden should be put on the Saudi civilian population. And if a group of Saudi civilians did the same then only it should compensate for the loss and no burden or blame should be put on the state. Moreover, the Saudi civilian population don't pay any form of tax to the state which, in turn does not have any degree of responsibility on them.

Being a democratic nation is very advantages within its own political borders and among other democratic nations. But, as a democratic nation with respect to an undemocratic nation, its a major disadvantage because their is no one who can be legitimately held accountable.

Movie Review : I, Robot

Production Shot from "I, Robot"

Rating : 3.5/5.0

I, Robot is based on a short SciFi story by Isaac Asimov. The year is 2035, where robots help people in their daily lives. Will Smith plays a police detective who is trying to solve a suicide of the genius who created the sophisticated robots. Smith's character suspects that the robot creator was murdered by one of his own robots. The robots are CGI and their physics is very much realistic. The action in this movie is heart-pounding.

Song: The Reason

By Knightmare

I'm not an ideal servant
I never meant to do those things you forbade
So I continue to repent
There's many things I pray you forgive
Because I beg for your grace
Before I leave this place

O your the reason for me
To change who I use to be
A reason to start over new
And the reason is you

I'm sorry that I ignored you
It's the mistake I live with everyday
And all the sins I have come through
I plead you wipe them all away
And be the one who watches over me
That's why I need you to see

O your the reason for me
To change who I use to be
A reason to start over new
And the reason is you

I took your blessings for granted
Though I never denied your oneness
Even when the whispers tempted
I turned away from the darkness
Because your the only one I fear
That's why I want you to hear

O your the reason to show
A side of me you know
A reason for all that I should do
And the reason is you

Movie Review : Donnie Darko

Production Shot from "Donnie Darko"

Rating : 0.5/5.0

I can't believe they are going to release "Donnie Darko" again. It didn't make any sense the first time, why release it again? It cost around $4 million to make and earned $500,000. I saw it and wept like a little girl after watching it because I'm never getting back that time lost. I'm no pothead, but I think I would have liked the movie if I had watched it high. The recycled release includes 20 minutes of extra footage and enhanced special effects. All the CGI cannot make this poor excuse for art likeable again! Who knows, maybe they'll hand out a free joint on each purchase of the ticket for this movie. I saw the reviews on Yahoo Movies, the critics desecrated it and some pothead Yahoo users gave rave reviews to this movie.

Song: The Radicals

By Knightmare and Abdusalaam Al-Hindi

In the Middle East and America, there's a growing feeling of hysteria
Conditioned to respond to all the threats
In the rhetorical speeches of the Radicals

Mr. Bin laden said we would rid of you
I don't subscribe to this point of view
It's such a sacrilegious thing to do
If the Radicals love their children too

How can I save my little boy from Wolfowitz deadly ploy?
There is no monopoly in common sense
On either side of the Civilized fence

We share the same biology
Regardless of ideology
Believe me when I say to you
I hope the Radicals love their children too

There is no historical precedent
To impose a democratic President
There's no such thing as a winnable war
It's a lie that we don't believe anymore

Mr. Bush said we will liberate you
I don't subscribe to this point of view
Believe me when I say to you
I hope the Radicals love their children too

We share the same biology
Regardless of ideology
What might save us, me, and you?
Is if the Radicals love their children too
